PEDIATRIC SURGERY UPDATE SYMPOSIUM

“Chittagong Research Institute for Child Surgery (CRICS)” has arranged a two day program as its’ first step to the world of research and human service. The first day consisted of a “Pediatric Surgery Update Symposium” and the second day consisted of a visit to “Dr Matin Amrah Community Hospital.”

The “Pediatric Surgery Update Symposium” was held on the 31st March 2017 at the Chittagong Club Guest House Party Centre in the port City. 74 participants from different organizations had attended the symposium.  

The Symposium consisted of keynote presentations on

    • “Disorders of Sexual Development (DSD)” by D.K. Gupta, Professor of Pediatric Surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi.
    • “Stem cell therapy for Pediatric Surgical diseases” by Professor Tomoaki Taguchi of Kyushu University, Japan.
    • “Anorectal Malformation (ARM)” by Professor D.K. Gupta.
    • “Hypoganglionosis” by Professor Tomoaki Taguchi of Kyushu University, Japan.
    • “No Children with surgical problems will be left untreated!” by CRICS Director Professor Tahmina Banu.
    • “Vesico-ureteral Reflux (VUR)” by Professor D.K. Gupta.
    • “New Technology in Pediatric Surgical oncology” by Professor Tomoaki Taguchi of Kyushu University, Japan.
    • “Cancer mapping in Chittagong region”
    • Sunanda Baidya, lecturer of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Chittagong.

They Day-2 of the symposium were a visit to “Dr Matin Amrah Community Hospital.” A presentation on the background and current dealings of “Dr Matin Amrah Community Hospital” was given by Dr Mohsin Zillur Karim. Then case discussion of 4 congenital patients in the outdoor of “Dr Matin Amrah Community Hospital” was done by Professor Tahmina Banu, Professor D.K. Gupta, Professor Tomoaki Taguchi and Professor Maryam Ghavami Adel. At last an overall visit of the hospital was given to the attendee and thus the symposium came to an end
